Fabian Schmid

Dipl.-Ing. BSc

Cryptology & Privacy, PhD Candidate

Fabian Schmid is a Ph.D. candidate with a research focus on cryptography and privacy. He started working for the Institute of Applied Information Processing and Communications (IAIK) while doing his bachelor's and master's degrees in information and computer engineering at TU Graz. His main research interests lie in privacy-enhancing technologies (HE, MPC, ZK), focusing on multi-key HE, verifiable computation, and real-world use cases of privacy. Fabian is advised by Prof. Christian Rechberger.

Research

My research interests include (and are not limited to):
  • (Fully) Homomorphic Encryption (FHE)
    • Multi-Key HE systems
  • Multiparty Computation (MPC)
  • Zero-Knowledge Proofs (ZKP)

Teaching

I teach cryptography in the following courses:
  • Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETS)
  • Modern Public Key Cryptography (MPKC)
I give a guest lecture on PETS in: I supervise students on related PETS topics for bachelor and master theses.
