New Curricula, New Courses

The upcoming winter term starts with new curricula for Computer Science, Software Engineering and Mangement, and Information and Computer Engineering, including some updates of our teaching offers.

For the Major and Minor in Information Security, we are offering exciting new courses. You can find a summary of all important updates below.

We also provide a full overview of the options for your Master’s degree specializing in Information Security here, including details on the transitional rules if you switch from the current curriculum to the new one:

New Courses

Secure System Architectures
(winter term)

Learn how to secure systems with dedicated hardware mechanisms.

This course replaces “Digital System Integration and Programming”.

Hardware Design for Security
(summer term)

Design ASIC and FPGA hardware extensions to enhance system security.

This course replaces “Digital System Design”.

Algorithms to Hardware using High-Level Synthesis
(summer term)

Transform software algorithms into hardware architectures using High-Level Synthesis (HLS), modelling data flow and control flow.

Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence
(summer term)

Learn how to build AI systems that are correct, robust, and without bias.

Verification and Model Checking
(summer term)

How do you prove that your implementation is correct?

This course is compulsory if you choose the Major Information Security and includes contents from the previous courses “Verification and Testing” and “Model Checking”.

Updated Course Types

Several courses that were previously offered as “Selected Topics in Information Security (Subtitle)” or similar have now been included in the curriculum, and a few courses have updated their type or ECTS:

Master@ISEC

Starting from the winter term 2026, we invite students of the Major in Information Security to join the Master@ISEC network. The basic idea of this network is to get together people that are specializing in information security.

We kick off this new format with a Master@ISEC welcome event at the beginning of the winter term on October 1st, 2025, starting at 18:00 at ISEC. This event will provide more detailed information about the new courses and about Master@ISEC.

  • Join the annual Master@ISEC kick-off of the study year in October: Meet with ISEC members to get information on ISEC courses and meet fellow students
  • Access the Master@ISEC student rooms (more rooms will be available when ISEC moves into the new Cybersecurity Campus Building)
  • Join the annual ISEC Summer BBQ
  • To find out more and get updates on seminars and latest news, join Master@ISEC on Discord (sign up in #getting-started)
